Standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., Commissioner Israel L. Gaither, national commander, issued an invitation to every Christian in the United States: “Come Join Our Army!” *

With video cameras rolling, a diverse crowd of uniformed soldiers behind him, and the Lincoln Monument as a backdrop, Gaither continued, “More soldiers are needed in this great Army of salvation. There is a role committed believers can play in the changing of conditions and circumstances of people on the margins of society.
